One request, matched to the actual job

How it works

A practical route from request to inspection

The platform helps structure the enquiry and introduce suitable professionals. The selected surveyor remains responsible for agreeing scope, fee and terms with you.

1

Tell us about the yacht

Share the vessel, survey purpose, location, timing and any buyer or registry deadline.

2

We review the scope

We check geography, material, size, specialist needs and whether formal acceptance matters.

3

Receive a suitable introduction

Where available, we connect you with a surveyor whose stated capability fits the assignment.

4

Appoint independently

You compare the scope and terms, resolve conflicts and instruct the professional directly.

Important distinction

Professional membership is not automatic flag approval

For pre-purchase and condition work, competence, experience, insurance and independence are central. For tonnage, registration, coding or statutory work, the flag or accepting organisation may also require a specific appointment.

Check my survey requirement

Credential — membership, qualification or professional designation

Capability — the right vessel, material, size and survey experience

Appointment — authority from the relevant flag or organisation

Acceptance — confirmation that the resulting report or certificate will be accepted

Cayman survey locations

Plan the survey around Grand Cayman and the Sister Islands

Most local marine facilities are on Grand Cayman, while Cayman Brac and Little Cayman are separate travel assignments. Confirm island access, berth or yard, lift capacity, weather and the intended use of the report before appointment.

George Town & western Grand Cayman

George Town · Seven Mile Beach area · West Bay

A principal concentration of vessels and services. Confirm the actual marina, canal or mooring and where the yacht can be hauled.

North Sound

SafeHaven · Governor’s Harbour · North Sound marinas

Canal and marina access can affect draft, lift and sea trial. Give the exact facility and vessel dimensions before scheduling.

Eastern Grand Cayman

Prospect · Red Bay · Bodden Town · East End

Smaller facilities and private canals may limit contractor and lift access. Confirm how the vessel will be presented for a complete inspection.

Sister Islands

Cayman Brac · Little Cayman

Frequently asked questions

Before you appoint a marine surveyor

What information is needed for a Cayman marine survey quote?

Provide the island, exact marina, canal, mooring or yard, vessel particulars, construction, purpose and date. Include lift, sea trial and any insurer, lender, registration, tonnage or Yacht Code requirement.

Can a surveyor attend Cayman Brac or Little Cayman?

Potentially, but flights, accommodation, weather and local haul-out capability must be confirmed. Some scopes may require moving the vessel or bringing a specialist from Grand Cayman or overseas.

Does a yacht under 24 metres need a Cayman tonnage measurement?

For Cayman registration, the Maritime Authority’s current guidance requires a Certificate of Measurement for a pleasure yacht under 24 metres, prepared or verified through the permitted route. Confirm the exact form and appointment before instruction.

Is a private survey the same as Cayman Yacht Code or statutory certification?

No. Cayman Yacht Code and convention surveys follow registry or authorised-classification-society routes. A buyer’s or insurer’s survey does not automatically satisfy those requirements.

Are island travel, haul-out and diagnostics included?

Only when expressly included. Flights, accommodation, yard fees, lift, wash, relaunch, skipper, fuel, machinery diagnostics and other specialist tests may be separate.

Who appoints the marine surveyor?

The client appoints and instructs the independent surveyor directly after agreeing scope, fee, timing and terms. Cayman Islands Marine Survey provides information and introductions only.

Can you help with other specialist marine survey assignments?

Potential assignments include large-yacht condition & refit surveys, storm & casualty investigation, sea trials & delivery acceptance, machinery diagnostics & oil analysis, rig & mast inspections, ultrasound, moisture & corrosion, marine warranty & towage surveys, cayman registration, tonnage & yacht code work. Availability depends on the location, vessel and required specialist capability or formal appointment.
